Gosh, I don't know.....originally I was thinking that maybe an artery that supplies blood to the the skin of the belly got nicked during surgery, but I think if that were the case, her belly would have been turning purple within just a few days and not weeks after...... My bet is that it does have something to do with hormone changes post-spay and her age. Maybe there's still someone out there in YT-land that has had this experience and can be of more help. As it stands, I'd call the vet just to ask since you haven't yet. He may have no clue, but then again, this may be something he's run into before.....never know!
