Purple belly Hello YTers, Any ideas on this one? I tried to search the forums, but the search did not run because the keywords were too common. I Googled it too, and was able to rule out a few things. About London
London is a 3-year-old female weighing 6 lbs. She was spayed 8 weeks ago. Symptoms
Her whole belly (including nipples) has been purple for 3-4 weeks. During this time she has also been peeing less frequently, about once a day.
Previously, belly was pink and she urinated 2-3 times daily. What I've tried/considered
There does not seem to be any pain when I touch the area.
The purple does not wash off with a bath. She has not been laying on newspaper either.
Nothing has changed with her drinking water situation at home. Fresh water in a clean bowl is available at all times, including overnight.
She has been eating a few berries that fall off trees in the neighborhood...I'm going to try to figure out what kind of tree and make sure it's safe. Other than that, no changes in her diet.
It has been snowy here lately and we've been going on lots of walks. Maybe a reaction to salt on the sidewalks? I wipe her off after every walk.
Also I washed her bedding materials for the first time with Woolite, and rinsed with water a second time. Maybe a reaction to Woolite?
A friend said it's not uncommon for nipples to turn color after spaying, and to pee less often after spaying. Google said could be part of normal pigmentation change at this age.
London is acting completely normal, happy, and playful, so I haven't been too worried. Should I be?
Still working on attaching belly pics. |
