I do believe people can change, but to jump right back into their relationship after what went down that night isn't emotionally constructive for either of them (especially her). I agree with this, its just way too soon. And with the police report coming out with the details of what really happened, it really is just sickening. She definitly has not had time to really think about how this is going to affect her life and maybe even her career. They really need time apart, she needs time to heal, and he really needs to get some help. Hopefully maybe he will do some jail time and that will give him a reality check for real.
