Welcome Treacle. Glad you found YT. You should find a lot of answers here. I'm on my first Yorkie so take my advice with a grain of salt, but he's 17 months old and I'd say he has definitely mellowed. He used to follow me around every second of the day, and now he follows me around every other second of the day. Just kidding. He really has mellowed. We have a couple times during the day that we routinely spend time with him. The morning walk and the evening play time. Other than that, he's not overbearing like he used to be. We had great luck with potty training. He was real good at 6 months and "perfect" after 9. But I've heard horror stories, too. All I can say is good luck.
