I wonder why the lady who originally found her surrendered her to the shelter? I am sure there is a reason someone can explain to me. Maybe I am just wrong and a little selfish but I probably would have kept her in my home and attempted to find her owner myself.

If someone can explain the shelter surrender to me I would appreciate it. Also remember -- I am a first time dog owner of 6 months so I don't really understand all the proceddures other than I love my dog and want to take good care of her.

My husband and I found a dog about 6 months ago. I brought her to the shelter, as it was close, and I thought for sure someone was looking for her, and I wasn't prepared to have another dog so rushed like that. I called everyday to check on her. They gave the owners 7 days to claim her. On day 7 I was prepared to go to the shelter and adopt her - but I was told she had this wonderful family that was coming everyday to to see her in hopes of being able to adopt her as well...

We all have choices to make when we find a dog, and maybe this woman felt the best first step was bringing her to the shelter. Plus they spay and get up to date with shots, etc...
