I have a yorkie that even with catarcts response to hand signals and it does not matter what you use at all unless you want others to work her and they use the standard hand signals.

Dogs do work better with body commands and tend to watch your body anyway for what you want them to do.. you are most likely repeating yourself with your body language already when you are using words now.
It is how they seem to know beofre you say it what you want them to do.. they read your movments first.
