One new dog is it because of the vet bills, food, toys etc. Anyway I talk to the fostermom for an hour & then she calls my refeerences & says they all checked out EXCEPT the vet! WHAT THE HECK?! She said they told her Precious was a yr & a half behind on her shots!!! I emailed her back because I have only had Precious for 1 year this week as a matter of fact! Plus I told them on the application that Precious started out with a vet that was very old & had a stroke or something & I then had to find another vet to continue treating her kidney infection & do her spaying!!!! I copied all the paperwork from vet #1 & gave it to vet#2 & it should be in her file!! Like the vet would have done the spaying without her shots being up to date. And to boot we already have an appointment set up for her next well visit & boosters! Well it wasn't meant to be since my husband said I can only have 1 more dog but maybe that's why I never got a call from any of the other applications I've sent in. Well when I go to the vet in 2 weeks you better believe they are going to get a piece of my mind! Can the office staff actually open her chart before they give people false information! Oh well thanks for listening to me vent. When I'm meant to find my next perfect pup I'm sure I will MOMMY OF PRECIOUS |
This is actually a very important lesson that anyone looking to rescue should take notice with. Prior to my first rescue I called the vet to make sure that all of my information was correct and up to date. If you cannot get past the vet check you will not be able to be approved ~ever. I would suggest to anyone considering to apply to a rescue to call your vet, let them know they will be getting a call from a rescue, that you are compliant with spay/neuter, vaccines, heartworm, and that they are willing to give you a good reference. It does not matter if all of your other references are good if the vet does not have your paperwork together then you will never be approved.
I am sorry that this happened to you but I guess it was a lesson that was hard to learn. At least you will know for the future and if one other person learns you can consider it a lesson learned by all.
