I have one more question for one, (geez, Im just full of questions ). my chihuahua girl Shorty has been having elevated ALT of 188 on the last check before meds. her vet has done BAT, xray and liver biopsy, BAT came out normal, the other two are inconclusive, and her vet has put her on Denosyl and a low protein diet, and its been working and her ALT level is within 100. but I felt like I don't really know whats going on/whats wrong with her at all! is there any further step that I could go to find out? thanks so much |
The biopsy must have showed something. If it was inconclusive, it must have showed some abnormality. Do you know what that was?
Have you thought about ultrasound? Beyond that I'm not sure and that may be inconclusive too. Evidently there is some type of liver cell death somewhere or something going on because the ALT just shouldn't be that high. Why was it tested to begin with though? Is this an otherwise healthy dog? Had she been exposed to any toxins before the ALT reading?
