its really ridiculous to only breed for tinies. sure there's a market for them. just like there's a market for anything. people like what they like. but realistically if the only yorkie you could purchase was a 3 lb and under, can you imagine what that would really be like...imagine trying to have them in a hectic show scheldule every weekend. imagine all the poor breeders always having extra heart aches and bills. imagine the poor dogs that would not make it to a healthy 15 yrs old. it's hard enough for a reputable breeder to find good stock as it is without spending their life savings, as many do, lol. but i'd hate to think that along with all the money i spent to try and find the kind of dogs i want to breed, that along with it would come huge vet bills, having to watch my females suffering during their whelp probably every time, and the agony of most likely losing alot more puppies at birth and soon after than if i were breeding within a little larger weight range. even though i breed within a 5-7 lb weight range, i still get a really small baby sometimes. and yes, they will be priced a little higher than a puppy within a standard weight range. this is due to the fact that it's most likely going to cost me alot more to raise that paticular baby in the first place. i'm going to aquire higher vet bills due to the extensive testing the extremely tiny puppy will need before it can be cleared to go. i'm also going to worry myself sick over it the entire time i have it. for those reasons i feel that it would not be unfair to ask 4-500 dollars more than i normally would for a puppy like that. but some of the prices i see out there that are just because they are tiny really bothers me. i mean 5-10,000 dollars is just too much for anyone to ask unless they are just trying to get rich quick. or get richer quicker. i would never pay that for one myself knowing what i know first hand from raising a couple of them. no way. now maybe if they were "benji" or "lassie" i would. i'd pay 10 grand for a multi talented tv and movie animal celebrity. but not for a yorkie or any breed of dog just because they were really small...
