1. Mix it with canned food.
2. The "Cheese Chaser" (my favorite)
Mash the pill into a small piece of American Cheese.
Show your dog another HUGE chunk of cheese with no pill.
Feed the one with the pill and IMMEDIATELY offer the HUGE chunk of cheese.
They gulp down the pill+cheese without thinking because they want the 2nd piece. The second piece ensures they do not hide the pill in their mouth, eat the cheese, and then go spit the pill out on the rug. 
The Cheese Chaser works with even the nastiest tasting pills. We use it with heartworm meds and it even worked with that *nasty* Metroz-stuff the vet gives for diarrhea.
