Default Administering pills.

Hi, I collected my Yorkie from the hospital yesterday - he had an op for bi lateral Perthes disease - and was given a whole bunch of tablets for him. I am really having trouble getting him to take them, the codeine isn't too bad as the tablet is so tiny I can hide it in his food but giving him the capsule is proving to be mission impossible!! I have tried tilting his head back, opening his mouth and putting it as far into his mouth as possible, then closing his mouth and rubbing his throat, but he still spits it out. I am ready to give up to be honest, I have already wasted quite a few capsules.

He is a really fussy eater at the best of times, so when I tried breaking the capsule and sprinkling it on his food, he refused point blank to eat it. Has anyone got any tips or suggestions to get the little tike to take his medication? Or I may be starting another thread offering him for adoption!!!

From a very frustrated Mummy!!!
