I can speak for Truman~his adoption fee was based on his age.
His adoption will be set by his needs. If
I had set his fee it would have been $1,000,000!

Seriously, I do not know the inside working for all rescues but I do have experience with several and as far as I have seen it is usually set by their age. Puppies being the most expensive (Doodlebug~puppy $350) and seniors (Truman~senior $150) being the least. So that also makes me wonder if a dog comes into their rescue and needs no additional care (
ie~spay/nueter, dental, vaccines, etc) would their fee be reduced~I doubt it. I was always under the impression that with a set fee for adoptions the dogs that needed less vetting and their fee was say $300 the additional money from their adoption (even $10) would help cover the ones that cost more for their care. Then you add in donations it would help bring this gap closer together.
Personally, I think that YHR's site is set up very well since Truman has his own little Paypal button to donate directly to his care. So even if you donated $1 you know just were your money will go~to care for the little man
