Here in Arizona they have "rattlesnake training" to teach dogs to stay away from snakes. They de-fang a live rattlesnake, but it can still make the rattling noise with its tail. They put the dog in a room with the snake. When the dog gets too close to the snake, I believe they give the dog a buzz with a shock collar.
I haven't done this training with my dogs, because my entire yard is walled in, so no snakes can get in. But I understand it can save lives. |
