When you do a bile acid test you take a paired sample around a meal. The pre meal sample is taken and should be under 10. The dog is then fed a d a post meal sample is taken two hours later. You want the post to be no higher than 25 but lower is better. This test shows how well the liver is functioning. If bile acids are high, there is something going on with the liver. With yorkies liver shunt and Mvd are very common so breeders will do a bile acid test on their adults before they breed them.
