I agree with registering your AKC puppies for the reasons set forth by previous posters.
I would also like to suggest that we not buy puppies that are in registries that are not full federated members of the
Federation Cynologique Internationale (FCI). This international organization: "The Fédération Cynologique Internationale is the World Canine Organisation. It includes 84 members and contract partners (one member per country) that each issue their own pedigrees and train their own judges. The FCI makes sure that the pedigrees and judges are mutually recognized by all the FCI members." AKC is a member...CKC (Continental Kennel Club) is not. If your kennel club is not a member of the Fédération, then I would have serious reservations about the quality of the puppy. Non-member kennel clubs have nothing to lose by encouraging the breeding of dogs that do not advance the breed. In my opinion, they are just scams to collect your money and give you nothing of value in return.
