I see no need to go any farther.
Test 1: Let Ellie sniff food. Make Ellie sit. Put food under cup a few feet away. Tell Ellie "okay". Ellie goes to cup and stares and then stares at me (as to say, "There is food under there. Aren't you going to move the cup for me".) and then stares at the cup and then stares at me. Now she is in the kitchen barking at it.
