yes, some of the airlines will rip you off. I posted my outrage at this a few weeks back. This is from northworst:

Carry-on Pets

Northwest is 150 each way, this is highway robbery.


I also called Delta (they do not list the price on their web site and of course bought northwest) and they are also 150 bucks each way. That is the price for domestic flights each way.

I just booked a DCA to LAX (cross country) flight for $185 round trip, and these airlines want to charge another $300 round trip for a 5 lb dog.

I am strongly thinking about the service animal option. My yorkies lower my blood pressure almost as much as these airlines rip pet owners off.

And don't think that all flight attendents are decent when dealing with a pet owner. I have been yelled at in the past for letting my yorkie stick his head out of the carrier so he would not bark his head off. Some just dont get it. When I took my little pippin to FL for 6 months on a job assignment, I had to let him out so he would not bark and the passenger next to me helped me hide him behind a newspaper from the evil flight attendent.
