the lady with the 3lb. Yorkie ticked me off So here in the Midwest it's been cold cold cold, and the same old snow has been on the ground a month. Last weekend I bathed the dogs, and even blow dried them out so they looked fantastic. I spent hours on them, extra conditioner, nails, teeth, bows in the hair, the works. I took them to PetSmart to get out of the house, sniff some other dogs, visit the cats awaiting new homes, and their all time favorite, to look in on the bird and hamster/mouse./rodent cages.
All was going well, until this lady came to pick up her Yorkie from the grooming area... she was heading our way and said to her little puppy "look, yorkies, like you!" She held a little pup in her hands, sweet face, and little bunch of a topknot in her cute little forehead. Of course, my 2 were like "put her down here!!" The lady was like "oh those are bigger Yorkies... mine is 6 months old, and she's as big as shes going to get at 3lbs" and kind of snotted off! My dogs are 2.5 years old, and Tucker's usually around 6lbs and Lucy can be anywhere from 8-9lbs depending on how much excercise she gets. It was like my dogs were too big for her little dog. Hmpf!
First, at 6mos, they are not necessarily at final size. Second, is 3lbs really healthy? And third, wtf gives her the right to think that just because she has an underweight dog she is too good for us? Of course, the dogs let it go the minute she was out of sight, and I should probably follow their lead. But it bugs me!
We did meet some really well socialized pit bulls! They go to doggie daycare and were soooo sweet! Spring is coming, right?
