I have had both in the past. They are comfy, but it really depends on the "age" and agility of all involved in sitting in them. My father could not get out without help. My children were younger and would PLOP down and would soon start breaking the rattan/bamboo.

Also the backs on mine didn't "lock" in but would slip alot. Not sure if it was because it was not a really high end or what. We ended up tieing them in place with zip-locks.

The pads are very important. Make sure that they are washable and very very full. All mine broke down FAST!! and were the over-stuffed ones. Good luck. I did love mine, just didn't last long.
