Shaunna, I think she will be ok. This is EXACTLY how Gucci was acting. The first day was the worst.. After that, he did put a little bit of weight on it when standing but he wouldn't walk on it or anything. By the 2nd night he was walking just a bit on that leg but still had a slight limp. This lasted for a few days but by about mid-week 4th day or so he was back on it and trying to jump and all that good puppy stuff. Of course he couldn't but he was trying.

Our vet had called several times to check on him, and I had let them know how and what he was doing.. they said just keep him in quiet time so he doesn't worsen it. I was so happy to see him "wanting" to jump and run I almost "wanted" him to just to KNOW he was OK.. but I didn't because I knew it could make him so much worse.

It seems Missy is on that same road to recovery, it may take her a bit longer since she is about 3 lbs lighter than Gucci and probably that much more fragile.

Give her big hug GI-normous hugs for Gucci and I

She seems to be doing quite a bit better. She wants to run around and play, but I'm not letting her. She hasn't yelped once today. She is starting to use that leg a little bit more. She's still not walking on it, but she is doing little things with it like resting it on the floor while she's standing, and standing on her back legs and leaning with both front paws on her ex-pen. She bends it, straightens it, and stretches it. She doesn't seem worried about it touching anything. She will lay on it, or straighten it out in front of her. She will also let me bend it, straighten it, and massage it. She's just not comfortable stepping down on it yet. She doesn't seem to be in pain though (must be good pain killers) because she really wants to jump and run around. I'm just keeping her quiet. I don't want her hurting it worse.

I called my vet. They said it will be fine to just watch her during the day today and see how she does. She is able to move it, and she's happy. It's obviously not a fracture. If I want to bring her in for xrays, I can go tonight (they aren't too busy) before 7:30pm or tomorrow sometime. It seems like she's going to be OK though. She's definitely back to her spunky little self. I'll be happy when she can actually take a step on that foot. That's when I will relax a little, but I guess she just needs to rest. It will take time. They also agreed that she would need to be put under anaesthetic to have it xrayed. It's because the position she would have to be held in would cause alot of pain to her injury and she wouldn't hold still and could bite. They would have to lay her on her back and kind of stretch that leg out and up over her head. I really don't want to have to do that unless I'm sure it's necessary (which I suspect it isn't). I'm going to just follow my instincts and continue to watch how she does for the rest of the afternoon. She is happy and seems to be getting better with rest.

I just want to thank everyone for their advice and support. Particularly those who have been sending me private messages and checked in today to see how we're doing. I really appreciate the support from all of you Yorkie lovers. It means alot.
