Good vets can be hard to find.
If you want cheaper rates, go to a place that is not an animal hospital.
Animal hospitals have much more equipment (which is important) but that gets pricey to maintain. Of course when it comes to surgery, I would make sure the smaller facilities are up to date on the latest and safest procedures. You can make a list of questions and call around. If all of your questions are answered to your satisfaction, you could request to take a tour. If everything is clean and the staff is friendly, make an appt.

It may take awhile but it will be worth it. I went through 4 vets for Ellie before I found the right one.
