Being a relatively new Yorkie owner myself I can understand why some people post here when their dog is sick and they are not sure if it's an emergency. They just do not know how quickly things can go downhill with puppies or small dogs. Some of the things that I now know would be an emergency ( after reading alot on here) may not have seemed like that to me before.

Yes , common sense is required. If my dog is in a serious state of decline such as being badly stepped on , having a seizure etc. I would be on the phone with a vet or driving to clinic ASAP....

I know cost is a factor , especially in today's troubled economy. For some that don't have the up front money to pay and the clinics wont work out payments with them , they may feel this is their best / only option for advice and help.
