This is totally nuts! I don't care what anyone says...there is no way one can raise 14 children and give those children what they need and I'm not talking of material things. I also don't think it's right to have so many kids, that the older ones have to parent the younger ones. I like to see kids be able to be kids.

I feel very bad for that mother's parents and those innocent children. It should not be up to the government to raise them, but I'm sure that's what it will come down to. They will also need help in taking care of them...with 6 children and add 8 newborns...it will be nonstop feedings and changings. Is she planning to just leave that all up to her Mom while she's off to school. This is ridiculous!
The bills to begin with are huge. Can you imagine when they are out of the hospital and need to be fed, clothed and have diapers, etc. I think I read somewhere that for an average child rearing it cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $250k. That is just with giving them the basic necessities and not any luxury items that their peers have or the cost of college.

The old saying was it takes a village to raise a child in this case it really will take a village to help her raise that brood. She is either going to have to hit the lotto or be very wealthy to have support in rearing these children or she will have to rely on the generosity of her neighbors and other church members to help her get through the times.

With John and Kate plus 8 they had rotating shifts of people from their church that first year to help them because there was no way they could do it on their own and she was a stay at home mom. The kids are now four I think and she still has help to come in and they need a cleaning lady to come once a week to help out. So there is no way that lady is doing it all on her own. Other folks will be necessary.

In the case of the Duggar family they tend to associate with people of the same religious faith and same mind set of having large families. If you have someone that lives out in the mainstream that we do think of how those children would feel if they were the kids that never had any of the things that other kids have...not speaking of luxury items...things like a bike or whatever like that.
