the cheapest airline that i have found to carry pets on is Airtran. It's 69$ each way. We're leaving for Florida on Saturday..and his ticket was actually more expensive than mine.
I think if they are going to charge this much for our pets...the least they should do is allow them to sit ON the seat..rather than under it.
