Hi, October 3rd, 2007 I lost my eight year old Yorkie that almost destroyed my life. I lost Emma to the tainted food out of China. We were feeding her the small Nutro packets of wet food. The moment we heard about it we took her in to be tested and yes her kidney values were high, we thought we had her under control and watched her non stop and had the Vet's monitoring her, things looked good and on the ninth month she took a turn, mind you we had her on medication and had her blood tested every other month and everything had returned to normal. We put her back in the hospital with fluids treatments to get her kidneys functioning again, we were then told to take her to this kidney specialist(whom I adored and respected highly) he told us that every case he had treated with the tainted food had ended with these results, as the melamine that was used, finally would crystallize their little kidneys. Food is so important and we all need to watch everything that goes in their mouths. I have to say that Nutro Foods was wonderful to us and paid all medical bills ($15,000) but nothing was ever done about my lost of Emma!!!!!!!! I really could care less but appreciated their help but the neglect of these dog food companies should have had some penalties for what they allowed to happen to all the innocent animals that trust us to give them safe food. I am so happy that you are on your way to being healthy but keep an eye on him because anything can result from bad things put into their tiny bodies. My Izzy is eight pounds and I feed her Wellness wet food with a sprinkle of baked organic chicken breast without any seasoning, she also has a fourth a cup of dry food out during the day for her to snack on. Thank God we have a healthy girl as I could never go through what you just went through again!! Keep us updated on his health. Hugs, Kathy
