I can add to this - I have 2 girls - 3 & 1 year old AND a 9 year old cocker spaniel - My yorkies ADORE her and they get along great.
As far as housetraining - Chanel was completely trained in LESS than 2 weeks old and Cheri took approx 9 months - they are all different in personalities and habits. Having a yorkie brings so much joy to my life I can't describe it. I've had cockers and love them....but would now only get another yorkie if ever looking for another puppy one day. They're THAT awesome
