We had an outside dog (lab) for a long time and he was perfectly happy. He was miserable when we brought him in the house. The only reason we rehomed him was because he got to be lonely in the winter months and it was just eating at me, and we could not get another dog, as we met (eh hem, exceeded ) our limit. He was the best though, and if we could have had another dog out there with him, it would have been more ideal.
If someone has an outside dog and provides them with adequate shelter, attention and nourishment, thats great. Some breeds were bred to be outside a lot.
You mean person, leaving your goats out in the cold... Mine aren't coming in either, they shed, but, they have eachother, and believe me, they have it made. Hubby worries about them when it gets cold out, but, I keep telling him, they're both long haired dogs(even the shepherd is long haired) and they're not tied up, and they have lots of straw and eachother. heck, the dog across the street is tied up, by itself, and is a cocker spaniel, and believe me, my dogs have it a lot better, I feel like stealing that dog and bringing it over to our shelter, at least it would be warm. We even have the thermometer in our dogs shelter that shows us inside what it is in their shelter, and it has a roof and insulation in there too. I can even walk in to it, which I do everynight to feed them.
