There are prescription diets available through your vet that may be prescribed for health issues like liver disease, kidney disease, even allergies. The problem with the prescription diets is that the ingredients they use are an inferior quality. They are usually a huge step down from the diet your dog has been on if you have been feeding a high quality commercial diet. That's why many of us choose to homecook instead.
