There WILL be sleep-deprived nights, and many many times where you will be waking up regularly in the middle of the night to take her out, so just go ahead and count on not getting a nice uninterrupted night of sleep for awhile. I know it sucks :-( But it won't last forever. My boy could only hold it at night for about 4-6 hours until just a few nights ago (at 4.5 months old). About three nights ago was my very first uninterrupted 8 hours of sweet sweet wonderful sleep in a month and a half of owning Nikko!!!

The best thing you can do IMO to keep her from whining in her crate when it's bedtime is exercise like crazy for the whole hour or two right before bedtime. If she's exhausted, she's less likely to cry and more likely to just pass out into doggie dreamland when it's bedtime.

Good luck... I know it's not easy, but they're worth it. :-) Buy some earplugs for the family maybe! But whoever's in charge of letting the dog out in the middle of the night is just out of luck - you've gotta be able to hear if she needs to pee.
