I'm not sure that you would see a big difference in the health of a dog on canned as compared to dry. I like canned because it is less processed than dry and the moisture is good for them. I am not in 100% agreement with the, "Canned is horrible for their teeth" statement either. Kibble may be somewhat better but their teeth should be brushed anyway and the benefits of canned outweigh the problems with it to me. I also think it would be hard to find any accurate research about canned causing tooth decay. That said, if your pup is having soft stool and it isn't going away, I would either changed canned foods, reduce the amount you are giving and give more dry or go back to dry altogether. Soft stool long-term (or very soft stool that could lead to dehydration in a Yorkie short-term) isn't healthy.
