I sincerely do hope your little one will be okay, I definitely would have the bile acid test for liver shunt done, for sure. But my main concern is the tennis ball...the insides, I believe are made of latex and rubber, both of which are not really digestible...let alone possibly toxic, or it may be an allergic reaction. Did the vet take an x-ray of his abdomen to make sure there was no obstruction? Please keep us updated on Pip's well being.
