Could be either.
Please don't wait - make an appt. for a Bile Acid Test - this is different than just normal blood work.
Also, a 5 month old puppy should NEVER have freedom when left alone. This pup should be contained in a 'puppy proofed' area when unattended. This is for training purposes and for the pups safety.
