When he makes a mistake do you clean it with an enzyme cleaner? If not, he will smell the scent and think he is suppose to go there. Your comforter becomes a giant pee pad. Regular washing won't do the trick you have to use an enema cleaner, and follow directions. This is especially true when you use pee pads, the only thing that should have the pee scent are the pads, that's why pads you purchase have an attractant built in.
Many people who move have reported this problem, and they could be attracted to the areas because other dogs have lived their before. Has your dog been neutered, and are you sure it's not marking? Marking is different than peeing, although many people confuse the two, and they do this for different reasons, but they are literally marking their territory.
