| Anyone's Dog have Pawpad infections? " Hi " This question is in regards to my rescued Puppy Mill dog, Gracie. Kinda long, but Thanks for reading.
She is a sweetheart but we've had her to the vets 3 times since we got her in September of last year for paw/pawpad problems. I know coming from a Puppy Mill she spent her whole life in a wire crate probably stepping on her own urine & feces so I'm sure that's where the problem lies. Her one paw got inflamed and she held it up and wouldn't walk on it, this was 2 days after we got her so we ended up taking her to the Pet Emergency, they did blood work, x-rays and said her paw wasn't broken but had a bad infection in it. Nothing showed up on the blood work. She was on antibiotics for 2 weeks, and during that time we soaked her foot 2 times a day in a solution the vet gave us.
When this happens her pawpad gets inflamed and then the front of the paw opens up and gets like a sore on it, then the sore heals.
She recovered from that and a month later her other paw started the same thing. We took her back to the vets and they did a full body x-ray this time cause they said if something is going on in her body, it could possibly show up in other ways. Nothing showed up on the full-body x-ray, so another round of antibiotics and paw soaking.
Just 3 weeks ago, the same thing with her other paw. This time the vet gave her steroids for the inflammation and more antibiotics.
I feel so.....bad for her, this happening with her paws & pawpads. But God Love her, she doesn't fuss when we soak her paws or act different in anyway while this is going on with her.
If anyone has ever experienced this problem with any of their dogs, I would love to hear about it.
Thanks,
