Sounds like you have made the decision to keep looking for the right one. Like many others that have posted, I totally agree that this didn't sound like a good start. To me growling shows fear, agression, or sometimes illness. It would not be a happy experience for your family. You will find a dog that adores you.... and that's how it is supposed to be.
