Sorry to disagree with you, but where I live, in the country, in NW IN, the coyotes have lost their food supply and they are out to EAT our dogs. Recently, a neighbor left his little dog outside for 30 seconds while he went in the house to get something, and when he came out, two coyotes were cornering his dog, right up at the back door of his house.
Coyotes generally travel in packs, and they send two "scouts" out to corner their prey, and when they have done so, the rest of the pack, descends.
I spent over 35 years doing "Orphaned Wildlife Rehab" and believe me, they are no longer afraid of people. When they are hungry, they lose their fear.
