Buddy is a love and loves people but if I handed him over to someone he did
not know I am sure he would growl at that person being unsure what was

You need to spend time with the dog alone. Only puppies don't care who
holds them IMO.
I am sorry your son has been sick and glad to hear his treatments have
worked and he is on his way to recovering. That is wonderful news.
