As others have said, it can weeks and months to get rid of kennel cough.
Did the vet give a vaccine called Bordatella? If so, that *is* kennel cough and the vaccine can actually result in kennel cough itself.
The biggest concern is whether this is progressing to pneumonia. If it seems to be worsening, you might want to go back in so they can listen to the lungs.
