My 18 week old yorkie also had an upper respiratory infection/crud at 12 weeks. I took her to an emergency vet (Sat- she started coughing on a Fri night) who gave her amoxillen and cough syrup. The following Monday I took her to my vet who said that he would have given a different antibiotic-- but since she was already on it, he didn't change it but did add a steroid (prednisone?). It took about 10 days, but she did get well. The steroid helped quite a bit---
