I think a lot of it depends on the personalities of the dogs, and believe me, I know these dogs..
They all know I'm alpha, but, 2nd inline is the shih tzu(she's going on 11) and these other ones know the difference in the shih tzus tone, wheter she wants to play or wants to be left alone. All of my older ones are very protective of the 7 mo old, it's like they know she's so tiny
