Plus I am not all that thrilled to have to go out in the middle of the night when it is below zero. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

The cold hurries my poor little guy along nicely. But there are some considerations:

1. Get a jacket, a nice velcro one can go on in a jiffy right over the harness.

2. Make sure you are training for potty on command.

3. Have a cleared regular spot that you always go to.

4. Try to use good jugement. A pup this young is about the size of your hand right? Think of how fast your hand gets cold.

With that in mind, you can take them right out to the spot (when you know they have to go) say "Go potty" or "Get busy" or whatever, and stand there like a tree. The pup will go eventually. Treat, praise "Good potty", and run back inside!

After a few months this drill will be pretty easy for your pup and they will know what to do when you go to the spot and they hear the word.
