I use the Before Grain Buffalo -- mine have done well on it (although, I will admit I am always looking for the best, and am willing to try something else)
I like some of the ingredients in it - first off - several different meat sources - buffalo, chicken, turkey, salmon and venison - although, a couple are meal. I also like that there are blueberries and the acai berry that everyone is raving about lately. I also like that it is lower in protein than some of the grain-free foods - it has 32% protein. (There are grain frees with even lower protein like the Natural Balance products)
One of the things I like about the BG also is the bag -- all pet food should be sold this way! It's a zip lock bag
Not to complicate things for you - but I think the other great grain-free food to consider is Artemis- Fresh Mix Maximal Dog. I love the Artemis foods - their cat food is about the only thing my nearly 17 yr old Siamese can keep down. My problem is Artemis is very hard to come by where I live - one groomer carries it, I don't like her much, she over charges & she keeps very irregular shop hours. Also, a holistic vet carries it - but she is only open a few hours a week.
The downfalls I see with the Artemis grain-free is that the only meat source is chicken & again it's higher in protein at 42%.
