My vet told me Savanna's leg would heal "on it's on" in about 6 months.
He didn't grade the damage but said we could do surgery and it would heal in about 6 months or leave it alone and it would heal in about 6 months.
I decided to not have the surgery and was surprised when the vet. gave me some 'pain' pills to administer to her.
It was Deramaxx 25mg cut into 1/4 pill pieces.
She was HIGHLY alergic to it. After just THREE of the 1/4 pill parts, her kidneys failed.
She had been running around playing and having a great time before I took her to the Vet. She was just carrying her left rear leg when she would run and I was concerned for her.
Large dogs can probably recover from an alergic reaction to this medicine.
Our little Yorkie babies may NOT be able to recover.
I just really don't want anyone else to go thru this if it's in anyway avoidable.
My advice is to LOOK UP A-N-Y medication on the internet BEFORE you give it to your baby.
If the medicine has a high risk of causing liver or kidney failure, PLEASE don't give it to your baby.
If I knew BEFORE what I learned AFTER, my precious angel Savanna would have NEVER gotten the first dose of this medicine.
The "Life Force" appears so HUGE in these Yorkies but in actuality, it IS NOT.
They are little babies with small life force.
PLEASE be CAREFUL taking care of your Yorky babies. (or any other ones)
