I'm a breeder and I hate the practice of tail docking. It is now illegal in most civilized countries, so we're kind of lagging behind in the US. I tried to stop docking altogether but caved in under pressure regarding my show prospects. Today for the first time I had someone decline to come see some puppies I'm selling as pets because they have tails and dewclaws. I found it odd that someone looking for a pet would turn their nose up at attractively priced champion sired puppies with two world champion grand-sires. It's like throwing out the baby with the bathwater. Any of you who are concerned about the practice of tail docking, regarded in Europe as mutilation, should write the AKC and animal rights people in protest. |
