Bland diet - more the less the same...boiled chicken and rice.
Personally I would still take her...8.5 pounds is not very big to be throwing up coupled with diarhea. Yes, taking her temp would indicate whether or not she had a fever. Sometimes you can feel a fever yourself...they are hotter to the touch than normal. You can use a rectal thermometer to take her temp if it's ever necessary. Normal for a dog runs 100 - 102 degrees.
I realize you are in CA...everything I mentioned earlier...Reese had done at our regular vet. The total visit was $108 and that included a prescription of antibiotic.
