If I can't get fresh peas, buy frozen and cook them with ham hocks or salt pork, "bet you don't know what that is?". My step son was born and raised in MN and he still can't eat the collard greens. His Father is from MN, and now he loves his wife's greens, black eyed peas and okra.

A SISSY???????? Excuse me???? I DO know what salt pork is.... it's the stuff that Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote about and they would fry it up and munch away. It's also in baked beans, is it not?

You guys are making my stomach growl. So do you just eat the beans alone? (if you don't have the greens to go along with them?) Do you put anything on them?
