Default Color change

Good morning YT!

I have a few questions...

My yorkie will be 2yo in a couple of months and is still black and tannish/gold. He has some grey on top of his head, but that's about it. I don't mind this one bit, but I do have a question about it: If his black coat hasn't changed to the grey/blue which is standard for yorkies, was he poorly bred?

His coat is very full and fluffy, not thin at all. I do bathe him once a week which might contribute to his hair not being as glossy as I've seen. Is the glossiness natural or is there something specific you must do to achieve this? His food is Orijen which I've heard is good for their coat, but I haven't really seen a difference. He's been on it for 3 months or so.

His hair is pretty short, about 2 inches or so right now. After his bath, when I'm drying him, I always notice that the hair on his lower back is a bit wavy. Once it's dry, it's not as noticable, but it's kinda funky.

BG: I got Tokes from a breeder. She had two pups, both boys. We both drove half way, about an hour each to meet up and see if it would work out. She gave me his AKC papers although I did not register him. She didn't seem shady at all. I found her on a local newspaper website. Her number was still active when I referred another client to her. So, I'm pretty sure she isn't a backyard breeder.

Thanks, I know this was a long read!
