Yes, that's how they treat food allergies in humans since you can't get allergy shots like you can for inhaled allergies. You avoid the foods you are allergic to and make sure to rotate through the foods you aren't so you don't develop more allergies. The body can't build up the antibodies that cause the allergic reaction if you limit the exposure.

A sensitive tummy would make it more difficult. If you could find even a few of foods he can tolerate, just rotate back and forth through them. When I fed Lady Nature Variety Prairie, I alternated between the two kibbles with odd proteins, venison and salmon. They both had different carb sources, too. A large can would last close to a week and I opened a different variety each time, again, the odd protein sources like rabbit, duck and venison. Lady did really well this way.
