I assume that there was a reason for it back when the breed was first established as a ratting dog. BUt Im pretty sure they do it now because its breed standard? Im not an expert but people think it looks better. In germany (I think its germany) They arent allowed to dock an animals tail, And i seen a full lenght tail on a yorkie from germany and it was the cutest thing EVER! lol Very unusual though..
