I see that I have upset you, I wasn't trying to criticize you, just thought you and others might like to know what actual research shows. Yes, I have children, and no, I did not spank them, time out does work, your goal should be to let the child know that their behavior isn't acceptable, without making them feel like they are "bad people". Spanking tends to reduce the poor behavior when the punisher is around, but when children are away from the punisher the poor behavior resumes. By the way, I have two wonderful grown sons of whom I'm extremely proud. There is a great deal of research in the area of learning and behavior, for humans and animals, and some people are interested in what the research shows us.
